it began with an email exchange

CB: WHICH young Hollywood starlet had secret gastric bypass surgery, but then lost too much weight? During a recent four-day stint at a health clinic, she was actually having an operation to remove the bypass.
this is nicole

i had heard rumors about this once, thoughts?

TB: no way!

no doctor would do gastric bypass on her and she clearly is skinny
from doing coke and clenbutrol!

...right?

CB: hmmm i don't know, she WAS chubby before, i've heard rumors of this...
of course related, do you think clenbuterol works?

i was sure. but cb had raised questions.

After staying only 72 hours at Beau Monde, the $80,000 a month treatment center in Newport Beach, where she reportedly went for help with an eating disorder on October 26th, Nicole Richie checked herself out claiming that she wanted to go shopping. Later that night, Nicole Richie passed out at the L.A. club, Hyde, where witnesses say she was partying with Lindsay Lohan. The staff members at the facility insisted that Richie stay, but she refused. A source says:

Nicole is in complete denial and oblivious to how sick she really is."

Two years ago, Nicole Richie was a chubby mess on The Simple Life. Then one day, apparently because of an eating disorder, she was skinny. But, the thing is, you don't lose 50 pounds overnight by being an anorexic. You lose 50 pounds overnight because of gastric bypass surgery. Just like her ex-boyfriend, DJ A.M., did (he lost 150 pounds due to the surgery). The rumor is that Nicole Richie checked herself in not because she has an eating disorder, but because she had gastric bypass surgery and now can no longer put on any weight at all, even if she tries. This horrible tragedy would keep me up at night if I cared. Wait, let me check....nope, still don't. (from http://www.idontlikeyouinthatway.com/2006/11/nicole-richie-is-committed.html

my verdict? i don't buy it. i think it was a mix of cocaine and clenbutrol (which, yes, DEFINITELY works). if you look at her body (clavicle, ribs, etc), i think it's just a much more compelling argument. regardless, she looks SO INCREDIBLY GORGEOUS AND PERFECT right now, i will post pics in a sec.

wait, seriously? you do NOT read enough magazines of the intouch/people/usweekly variety.

clenbuterol is a diet pill currently being used by nicole richie ish folks, aka clen. it's legally proscribed... FOR HORSES. (horses with asthma)

apparently you start losing weight after a single day...

"Clen may work by speeding up your central nervous system and helping the body to shed fat and gain lean muscle, but there are definitely side effects." (um, i would expect so, given that it's intended for horses.)

from nbc10.com
" People hear about a horse drug that causes rapid weight loss so they grab it, never knowing about its consequences.

The drug was first taken by some bodybuilders, because it makes you lose fat, but not muscle.

People said models and Hollywood types are now using the drug, which is meant only for horses.

Linda Wells

"Everyone in Hollywood wants to be thin. It is a sign of achievement. And the tabloids keep constant track of who's the thinnest and what the weight watch is and if you gain a few pounds in Hollywood it's suddenly seen as a crisis," said Linda Wells, with Allure magazine.

One model, who did not want to be identified, took an illegal drug called clenbuterol years ago. We'll call her Jennifer.

Normally used to treat asthma in horses, clenbuterol has also been found to cause rapid weight loss.

"There are rumors that Hollywood celebrities are using this drug to become very thin, very quickly," Wells said.

"My body would look better than it already did, and what 20 year old wouldn't be like, alright! I want my body to look better than it does!" Jennifer said.

Despite being widely discussed and sold on the Internet, those pushing the drug rarely mention its potentially dangerous effects on the nervous system.

"Probably the prevalent thing was the rapid heartbeat -- just my heart was going to beat out of my skin" Jennifer said. "This wasn't a cup of coffee feeling. This was like three pots of coffee feeling."

"Just out of nowhere my eye would start going crazy twitching just from my nerves being so out of control," Jennifer said.

Fortunately for Jennifer, she stopped taking the drug before things got worse, and walked away with a valuable lesson.

"There's nothing at all that exists that is going to take the place of a consistent, good nutritional plan and working out, exercising on a regular basis. Nothing," Jennifer said.

"This is dangerous. This is really bad idea. You do not want to be taking this drug," Wells said.

On top of the fact that it's dangerous, some people said that after a few weeks of losing weight on the drug, it made them start gaining weight. "
